ABOUT US

Glencoe Public Safety Foundation aims to partner with the Glencoe Public Safety Department to promote a partnership between Glencoe Public Safety Department and the community in order to solicit and distribute funds that will assist the department in providing safety and security within the community.  The Glencoe Public Safety Department is a "triple threat" - its officers are trained as firefighters, police officers and medical first responders.   This level of efficiency allows the Village to provide a high level of emergency services to the community at a reduced cost when compared to municipalities utilizing traditional, separate police, fire, and emergency medical components.

The Foundation recognizes that a substantial portion the Department’s annual budget is devoted to personnel cost, leaving little flexibility to develop innovative programs, keep pace with rapidly evolving technology, purchase specialized equipment, or implement new programs. The role of the Foundation is not to supplant funding for basic law enforcement services, nor to reduce the responsibility of the Village of Glencoe in any way to commit the necessary funding for law enforcement, fire service, and emergency medical services for its citizens. The Foundation’s goal is to form a public-private partnership that provides financial support for important, un-budgeted, or discretionary needs that promise to improve crime prevention, optimize emergency medical service responses, enhance professional development, and encourage citizen participation to enrich public health and safety.

Donors can be assured that they are receiving an outstanding "bang for their buck" when donating to the Foundation as the overhead is extremely minimal.  The Foundation does not have any paid employees.  Rather, a volunteer Board of Directors utilize the experience they have gained the business and legal world in roles including, but not limited to, CEO General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Special Events Executive, and Entrepreneur in a pro bono manner, to ensure the Foundation runs in a professional, transparent and ethical manner.  Unlike many charitable organizations, the Foundation has no physical space costs and a Board of Directors not afraid to get in the weeds to minimize costs, including, but not limited to, creating and running the website and online presence, soliciting for donations, and performing legal work for state and federal filings on a pro bono basis.
